Jack Morgan is the owner/operator of Cool Beans, hailing as “Lead Bean” since January 2022. Maryland born and raised, Jack grew up in Rising Sun and Principio Furnace, later attending Frostburg State University, where he played lacrosse and honed his skills as a chef and pitmaster.

Jack spent several years after college pursuing different passions including traveling, carpentry, and, most significantly, cooking. His passion for cooking began young but was taken to another level in college, doing kegs and eggs for football homecomings and BBQ tailgates for lacrosse games. His passion for grilling and smoking foods reached a professional level as the kitchen manager and Chef at Port Deposit’s Granite Run Taproom. Jack now has more than 15 years of restaurant experience ranging from pizza to fine dining, and everything in between.

Port Deposit is a special place to Jack. It sits between Rising Sun and Perryville Maryland, where he spent much of his childhood and early adulthood. His grandmother met his grandfather while he was stationed at Bainbridge, and she even used to life guard at the old Lions Club pool. Today, Jack is a Port Deposit resident himself. If he is not at Cool Beans, you can often find him socializing on Main Street with the locals or walking his dog with his wife, Kara.
